Meet Stephanie!

Hello! My name is Stephanie, or Steph, Trendell. I am a recent graduate of Emerson College, where I studied journalism with a minor in political communication. Currently, I work as a part-time Communications Specialist for the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE), where I write blogs, newsletters, and promotional emails to drive awareness, constituent action, and donations to support our mission of ending sexual exploitation for all people.

While in college, I interned for two semesters at Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island in the marketing and communications department. There, I learned to explore my creative side as a writer, as well as utilize and develop some of my journalism skills. Throughout my time as an Emersonian, I participated in a wide array of activities to give back to my school community. I was a member of the student-run political news broadcast, which encompassed writing and reporting for TV news as well as "behind-the-scenes" production of our weekly shows. I played on the varsity softball team for the entirety of my time at Emerson, serving as a team captain my senior year. In my sophomore and junior years, I worked at the Emerson Wellness Center, aiding students with health and insurance-related needs, coordinating wellness appointments, and utilizing marketing strategies to inform students of our services and promote a healthy lifestyle.

 

Since graduating, I am able to fulfill my passion for team sports through coaching both high school and club teams. I value being positively engaged in the communities I am a part of, which is why I continue to volunteer with Make-A-Wish and on local political campaigns. 

 

My favorite part about journalism is the ability learn about the world and people around me through my work. Journalism allows me to explore unique places and acquire knowledge that I may not otherwise have the opportunity to discover.
